What does the Menallen Township Planning/ Zoning & Code Enforcement Office Do?
The office is responsible for planning, zoning enforcement & code enforcement compliance inspections as well as property maintenance inspections.
The Office is charged with Administering and Maintaining the Menallen Township Zoning Ordinance, the Township’s Zoning Ordinance, as well as the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance. & the Township’s Comprehensive Plan
The Office reviews, analysis and oversees detailed public and private development proposals to ensure consistency with Township requirements, as well as the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Code (MPC)
The Office works with engineers, developers, architects, and a variety of agencies, as well as our residents to assist with their respective development needs, guiding them through the planning and zoning process.
The Office through the Administrator serves as a liaison to the respective Planning Commission, Zoning Hearing Boards, & the Menallen Township Board of Supervisors, by presenting information and applications regarding cases and development proposals and making recommendations to the Boards concerning those proposals and applications. The Department is also responsible for educating members on current trends and practices in the area land use and zoning.
The Office through its Zoning & Code Enforcement Officer ensures compliance of the International Property Maintenance Code, The Menallen Township Zoning Ordinance, the Menallen Township SWEEP Quality of Life Ordinance, with the ability to issue Summary Citations as well as SWEEP tickets for non-compliance.
The Office reviews permit applications, issues zoning permits, as well as other related permits, inspects properties, buildings, as to maintain compliance with applicable codes and township ordinance.
The Office handles difficult and sensitive public inquires and complaints and assist township residents to resolve issues.
Office staff maintains continuing education, as it relates to changes within the Municipal Planning Code (MPC), Zoning Law changes, and new laws as it relates to the Legal Aspects of Code Enforcement
The Office keeps the Board of Supervisors informed of ever-changing environment of the office, as it relates to blight reduction and quality of life issues that affect our citizens.
